We know this has been a challenging time for our friends in Kenya. We've seen the protests and the concerns about tax increases and the new government. We want you to know that we’re thinking of you and sending strength your way.
On a lighter note, did you make it to #Chivido2024? It was like a Nollywood movie come to life, complete with glamour, drama, and love. Bella’s invite must have gotten lost on the way, but she was partying hard on Twitter with the newlyweds.
Now, back to business. There are two main reasons why we do a round-up every month: to keep you in the loop about everything we’re doing so you don't miss out on anything that could enhance your experience with Geegpay, and to stay connected because you’re such an important part of our community.
We’ll circle back to that community part later, but first, let’s dive into all the exciting things that happened at Geegpay this month!
Heartwarming Love
It all started with one freelancer's tweet about his $10,000 Upwork milestone, and our social media manager’s reply saying congratulations. Soon, more users were tweeting about their milestones and how Geegpay has made it possible for them to receive payments for their gigs (see here, here, and here).
What began with a few tweets turned into an outpouring of love, with many of you sharing your Geegpay experiences. Some customers even made videos like this, and Bella got a shoutout! Your feedback is incredibly heartwarming and reminds us everyday that we’re one step closer to our vision. Please take a moment to leave us a review.
Geegpay Diaries Episode 6: Precious shares her journey to $20,000 on Upwork
We sat down with Precious Ahwuri Obuzor. She’s a long-time Geegpay user and a freelancer who’s earned $20,000 from just three gigs on Upwork. Her tweet about Geegpay helping her process those payments caught our eye, so we invited her for a virtual chat to share her story. You can catch the whole conversation on our blog. It’s definitely worth a read.
Twitter Spaces with Precious
Wanting to go deeper into Precious’ journey, we hosted a Twitter Spaces event where she shared more about attracting clients, upskilling, sending out proposals, and so on. Thousands of you tuned in, and she was happy to answer your questions and share her insights.
Boost Your Earnings with Selar x Geegpay Workshop
It seems like this month was all about boosting earnings. Our free workshop in partnership with Selar took place on the 28th, focusing on how to earn more using the skills you already have. We had three amazing guests speaking, and it was a fantastic opportunity to ask questions and get insights on creating and selling digital products.
New Toolkit Additions
Have you been enjoying the resources in our toolkit? This month, we added two new ones:

Exciting Product Updates
We’ve been hard at work making the app and website better for you. We’ve also got something exciting coming soon: Geegpay’s Referral Program!
Here’s a sneak peek: when you refer a friend to Geegpay, and they complete their onboarding and make a transaction, both of you will get rewarded. It’s our way of saying thank you for spreading the word. Stay tuned for more details.
Save the Date: Community Event
Remember when I mentioned community in the beginning part of this letter? We’re planning our first-ever community mixer in August, and we’re so excited to meet you all! It’ll be a day filled with fun activities, remote work and freelancing conversations, we'll hear from the guys doing big things on Upwork, and of course, we'll party till we drop! This event will be in Lagos, and tickets will be free but limited, so keep an eye out for when registration opens.
