Geegpay by Raenest's Monthly Roundup: February 2025

They say February is the month of love, but let’s be honest, it’s also the month where we all breathe a sigh of relief because it’s not as long as January. Or was it? This year, February felt packed, like it was making up for lost time. Did you feel it too? Between product launches, major sponsorships, and exclusive promos, we had our hands full. But that’s the thing about growth, sometimes it comes as big milestones and other times, it’s in the small wins that make everything worthwhile. Looking back, this February was filled with moments worth celebrating, and we want to take you through all the highlights. Here’s what we were up to this month:

Starting strong, this month, we announced that our parent company, Raenest, secured $11 million in Series A funding. With backing from QED Investors, Norrsken22, Ventures Platform, P1 Ventures, and Seedstars, this brings Raenest’s total funding to $14.3 million. For us at Geegpay, this funding opens up new possibilities and helps us do even more for our users. With this funding, we’re expanding into the U.S. and Egypt, while strengthening our presence in Nigeria and Kenya. But that’s not all. We’re rolling out more products and features, and even faster payment processing, making it easier than ever for you to manage and move your money across borders. Read here to get the full gist of it.

Oh, and speaking of new things, have you checked out Bill Payments on Geegpay? Remember, you can pay for airtime, internet, electricity, and cable TV straight from your Geegpay wallet and the best part? You can pay in NGN, USD, GBP, or EUR. Want to try it out? All you have to do is:

  • Log into Geegpay
  • Tap “Payment Hub” (on the app) or “Bill Payments” (on the website)
  • Select what you want to pay for
  • Enter your details and confirm—that’s it!

Right now, it’s available for Nigerian users, but we’re not stopping here. If you’ve tried it, let us know what you think via our socials.

If there’s one thing about our parent company, Raenest, it’s that we don’t just show up, we take the spotlight! At this year’s Africa Tech Summit (ATS) in Nairobi, we led some of the biggest conversations around fintech, cross-border payments, and trust in financial systems. As the headline sponsor (for the second year in a row, by the way, 😉), we made sure our presence was felt.

One of the top insightful sessions at the summit was our masterclass on scaling beyond borders, hosted by Tobi Otokiti (our VP of Product) and Richard Oyome (our COO & Co-founder). They broke down the challenges African businesses face with international transactions and shared how Raenest is solving them with multi-currency payments, seamless conversions, and lower transaction costs. In the same vein, Sodruldeen Mustapha (Co-founder & CTO, Raenest) took the stage with a powerful keynote on Redefining Trust in Financial Systems. With fintech fraud and compliance concerns on the rise, he emphasized that transparency and security aren’t just nice-to-haves but must-haves.

The energy peaked at the Raenest Mixer! Picture great food, drinks, tech leaders, startup founders, and a fun Raenest Bingo game to break the ice. It was networking but without the awkwardness. People left with new connections, fresh ideas, and an even stronger belief in the future of African fintech.

Still on education and impact, we brought together some of the sharpest minds in AI and productivity for a conversation on how professionals can leverage AI to work smarter. Wisdom Oparaocha (Founder, Linkedly.AI) and Peter Oriola (Software Developer, Raenest) shared practical ways to take advantage of AI. One key takeaway? AI isn’t just for techies. Whether you’re a freelancer, business owner, or remote worker, the right AI tools can help you stay ahead. Huge thanks to our host, Beverly Ezebuike, and everyone who tuned in. Missed the Webinar? Here’s a recap

February wasn’t just about new features and seminars, we also gave you a little extra to celebrate with two free USD deposits on Geegpay. All month long, users enjoyed free deposits, making it easier to maximise earnings and keep more money in their pockets.
