Geegpay Monthly Roundup: July 2024

Rewind to Christmas, 2002. I was in the backseat of my father’s Volvo when a soulful voice came on the radio singing. I remember my dad turning up the sound and humming to the tune, “one love, keep us together,” as we drove home from a visit to my grandparents’.

Today, we find ourselves mourning the loss of a legend who brought light to everything she touched. Farewell to the icon, songstress, activist, and legend, Onyeka Owenu. While we grieve, we also celebrate a life well-lived.

As we reflect on Onyeka Owenu's incredible legacy, let's look at what went down in July at Geegpay.

GEEGPAY UPWORK MIXER

We're over the moon to announce the Geegpay Mixer is almost here! It's the biggest party of the year and the first-of-its kind event for freelancers and gig workers, and it's happening in Lagos. We'll share more details soon, but for now, make sure to reserve your spot so you don't miss out on the fun. Space is limited, so act fast. Reserve your spot here.

RAENEST SECURES IMTO LICENSE FROM CBN

We're also excited to share that our parent company, Raenest, has received the International Money Transfer Operator (IMTO) licence from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). This is a significant milestone, not just for us, but for the thousands of businesses that rely on Raenest for seamless cross-border payments and a host of other financial solutions. Read more about it here.

VIRTUAL CARD FUNDING FEE REDUCTION

A few weeks ago, we announced updates to our virtual dollar card fees to cover increasing costs related to card issuance, transaction processing, and funding operations. However, you shared your feedback on social media, asking that we continue to keep things affordable. We heard you loud and clear and have reduced the card funding fees to $0.50. Thank you for helping us improve Geegpay.

CONTENT TIPS FOR EVERY CREATOR

One minute you’re creating a social media page to showcase your skills and services, and the next, you realise it's been abandoned for months. Content creation is challenging, especially when juggling multiple gigs. That's why we spent 15 days sharing simple tips to revive your social media presence. If you missed it, we've compiled everything in this thread.

REMINDER TO ACTIVATE 2FA ON GEEGPAY

With hackers on the prowl, it's very important to activate 2-Factor Authentication (2FA) on your Geegpay account. 2FA adds a layer of protection when access is requested to your account. To enable 2FA, log in to the app, tap the profile icon, tap Security, select 2-Factor Authentication, and follow the steps.

Our product and engineering teams have been hard at work, and we have some exciting updates:

Improved Onboarding Process:

We've streamlined the onboarding process to just two steps, allowing you to get started on Geegpay faster.

We've also improved our bank account creation process with a questionnaire for extended due diligence, ensuring all accounts are compliant.
